How do I get a gaming career started on the east coast?

I have recently started to look for a job in the gaming industry as a tester or customer service rep…I have lots of beta testing experience and constructive feedback experience…but it seems like its near impossible to get a gaming career started here on the east coast…anyone have any advice on where I can get started? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are a few schools on the east coast you can go to that have courses for a gaming career.

Your going to need some schooling in order to get into the gaming industry. Most gaming companies are located in California though so when you do end up getting a job in that field, you’ll proably have to end up moving out there somewhere.

Consider The Art Institutes. They are excellent colleges – and they have been since the first Art Institute was founded in Pittsburgh in 1921. The Art Institute allow students to major in their field of study from day one – small classes (10-15) and be taught only by professionals. At the AI colleges, students get 75% pf their classes in their field, from day one!Everyone who teaches at an Art Institute college must have a minimum of 5 years professional experience in their field. Because they have professional connections, they are able to actively assist the students in job placement. In Game Art Design, grads go on to work for companies like Sony and EA. 89% of AI grads get work in their field of study within 6 months of graduation – all across the USA. And of course, they have an excellent Web Design/Interactive Media degree program as well – both a 2 year and a 4 year track. AI is a family of over 45 accredited colleges, teaching Design, Media Arts, Fashion and Culinary. The Art Institutes teaches you the business side of your major – because that’s what the professionals know! They have financial aid – scholarships, grants, loans. Using their professional contacts, they try to assist students in getting part time jobs in their field. Can I honestly receive a job in the gaming industry during these current years? I know some trustworthy people that have told me of people they know that have a gaming degree from an excellent school in Florida, that cannot get employed from it. Is this their own personal fault or is it due to the gaming industry itself?
